The Indigenous Amazon Trek Expedition is a seven-day immersive journey designed for those eager to immerse themselves in indigenous life, witness wildlife, and connect with nature and its people. This immersive experience takes place in the Lower Rio Negro region, near Manaus, a captivating part of the Amazon Rainforest known for its rich biodiversity and vibrant cultural heritage. The area features dense rainforests, winding waterways, and expansive floodplains, creating a haven for diverse wildlife and indigenous communities that have inhabited the Rio Negro for centuries, preserving their traditional ways of life and deep connection to the land and water. HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?
The adventure begins with a transfer from Manaus to the riverport, where visitors board speedboats to start their journey. Over the next seven days, they will trek through the rainforest, set up campsites, and engage in hands-on activities such as fishing, food preparation, and shelter construction. ITINERARY OF THE EXPERIENCE:
Day 1 (Mon): Manaus - Arrive in Manaus, where a local representative will meet the guests and transfer them to their hotel. In the afternoon, a mandatory briefing will cover essential information about the expedition. Guests will enjoy a welcome dinner and socialize over a traditional regional menu.
Day 2 (Tue): Exploring Rio Negro - Transfer to the riverport and board speed boats chartered exclusively for Amazon Trek's guests. Cruise slowly upstream toward the Meeting of Waters and enjoy panoramic views. Disembark at a riverside community to meet indigenous residents from six distinct ethnic groups. Learn about their traditional crafts and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in the community's maloca (longhouse).
Days 3-6 (Wed-Sat): Trek Expedition - Prepare for an exclusive journey deep into the forest. Each evening, set up camp with hammocks or optional camping tents. Rise at sunrise and witness the diverse wildlife of the Amazon. Engage in activities such as fishing, cooking with wood fire, and learning about medicinal plants. The expedition will also include interactions with indigenous guides, providing insights into their way of life.
Day 7 (Sun): Return to Manaus - Relax in private space until the overnight flight home, or opt for a full night's stay and depart the following morning.
Accommodations: Guests will stay in basic but comfortable campsites set up each night along the trekking route. These campsites are chosen for their beauty and strategic location, ensuring a unique and immersive experience.
